We introduce two new half day introduction courses to Solr.

The first is Introduction to Solr (non-technical) which is designed for everyone who need to understand search, with no prerequisites. Instructor and search guru Jan Høydahl gives a thorough and engaging introduction to search, open source, Apache Software Foundation, Lucene & Solr and the most important features of Solr. Participants will learn how open source search has a broad set of features and application areas. The course also includes time for a whiteboard session allowing tailored Q&A. Delivered on-site.

The other is Introduction to developing with Solr (technical). All participants must first have attended the non technical introduction. Typically clients combine the two and let everyone participate in the non-tech part and the developers, operations team etc stay for the tech part. The course goes further from the functional aspects into the inner workings of Solr and covers the main configuration files and a deeper understanding of major features. Participants will install Solr on their laptop, and index&search some content. The training will help the developer understand Solr/Lucene architecture, various ways to interface with Solr, how indexing really happens and much more. This is meant as a first taste, to get the developer kick-started into playing with Solr herself.
